The symptoms of Menière’s disease first appeared six months ago: rotatory vertigo, equilibrium disorders, tension in my ear, tinnitus and extreme tiredness…The ascribed treatments being inefficient, even though they do help a bit, I set out to find complementary treatments. Following the advice of a relative, I discovered the Tomatis method (Editor’s note: Tomatis technics or Audio-Psycho-Phonology).
I have just finished a 20 session program in Morgins in Switzerland. I got there completely exhausted, constantly worrying about eventually fainting, having tinnitus and with this almost permanent tension in my ear and right eye. The first walks in the mountains were difficult: I was scared of having vertigo, I couldn’t walk steadily, I still had this tension in my ear…
After 4 weeks of sessions, of resting and walking in the mountains, the benefit is undeniable. I have not had vertigo or any equilibrium disorders. The tensions in my ear as well as the tinnitus have got much better. I have got my confidence back and we now go for long hikes in the mountains, pacing my efforts of course, but without any apprehension.
The sessions are enjoyable and are in themselves a real moment of relaxation: listening, drawing and reading…and of course Mr and Mrs Waddell’s caring attention, warmth and listening make all of it all the more pleasant.
I now set off with their advice to strengthen all of this and having now recovered a joy of living.
And here is what Mrs G. adds two years later: Morgins is where I was able to find peace and serenity again, thanks to all of you.
